What is houseparenting? What is it like to have so many kids? What ages of kids do you have? How to do you manage groceries? Do your bio kids like what you do? Your hands must be pretty full, huh?
Whatever questions you’ve had about what it’s like to be a parent of kids in a group home, we probably have some of the answers. Maybe. We certainly have some interesting stories. So pull up a chair and check out what it’s like to live our crazy life. We’ll tell you everything we legally can.

Our family:

Alan and Haylee (that’s us) have been married for nearly nine years. We’ve spent most of that time together in Lubbock, TX where we now live with our two three bio kids. We live and work in the same place, on the campus of our children’s home. We both longed to be in a work environment where we were 1.) helping kids, 2.) working as a team, and 3.) staying home with our younguns as they grew. We got all of those things in houseparenting and it turns out we make a super great team.
Alan likes reading, baseball, wrestling, video games, and being out of the house going places, talking to people, and doing stuff.
Haylee likes reading, writing, knitting, running, video games, and staying home, not being seen by other humans, talking to them, or doing things with them (unless it’s her kids).
We can’t publish pictures of our kids in care, which is really a huge shame because there really isn’t a better way to convey their personalities, zaniness, helpfulness, sweetness, and the general insanity of our life when I have to block out or blur their faces. I’ll do my best, though.
